Let's Get Meta

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2014/05/the-endless-t-shirt-is-a-trend.html
What is the endless T-shirt? It is Macaulay Culkin, last week, wearing a T-shirt featuring a picture of Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt featuring a picture of Macaulay Culkin. Photoshoppers then suggested the next step: Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt featuring a picture of Macaulay Culkin wearing a T-shirt featuring a picture of Ryan Gosling wearing a T-shirt featuring a picture of Macaulay Culkin. Language is strained to its limits. Time and space spiral endlessly inward. Dali fiddles with his mustache. Escher laughs. Real life awaits Gosling’s next move.

Fashion In The Sky

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."
Coco Chanel

We enjoyed fabulous weather on Sunday at the Hadley, MA route 47 Flea Market
doing market research with some of our T-Shirt Designs.
Results are in:
The Love Is Greater Than Money
T-Shirt with light grey images on a dark grey shirt
ranked the favorite among all age groups  with both men and women!

As part of our market research we in interviewed random folks to find out more about their t-shirts. Shown here is Eduard Aguilera wearing his favorite: a dark grey shirt with the image of Saint Toribio Romo González- a Mexican martyr who died in the Cristero War and who is considered the patron saint of immigrants. Eduardo says he keeps the color fresh by dying it from time to time.

Curcio's Native American Sign Language Series

THE NEW MATH  features t-shirt designs that use words and images to make both  fashion and philosophical statements. These designs are inspired by artists Sally Curcio’s & Anne La Prade Seuthe’s interest in language and by the motto Ars longa, vita brevis  (Art is long, life is short).  Their designs often feature the rebus - (nōn verbīs sed rébus -- Latin for “not by words but by things”).

re·bus
Noun   /rēbəs/

: a riddle or puzzle made up of letters, pictures, or symbols whose names sound like the parts or syllables of a word or phrase

Les Miserables Crying Parents

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOr3JlRPs1w

There's something to Ferguson's parents' reaction that strikes a chord with us. Somehow this candid moment makes clear how our responses to art are inevitably linked to our individual life experiences.  Looks like art triggers an encounter with our own deep stuff -- that’s worth a good cry...or an irrepressible laugh.

Thanks Victor Hugo!

Big Brother....wears an XL T-Shirt!

Who sponsors social change?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVHmDSovwZs

You don't have to be Julia Child, Gloria Steinem, Sylvia Plath....

...it's good enough to know who you are, where  you've been,
and where you want to go. All the better if you can boil water, fight the good fight and write a few lines in  anapestic tetrameter.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
